We believe in the one true God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (the Holy Trinity).

We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, the Son of God and the Savior of the world.  We believe that Jesus is the Lord whom we serve in our everyday lives.  We believe in the centrality of worship, Word and Sacrament.  Some the central words that define our faith are the Word of God, Baptism, Holy Communion, the church as the Body of Christ, Justification, proper distinction between Law and Gospel, faith, grace, mercy, forgiveness of sins, love (agape), redemption, ecumenism, fellowship, witness, ministry, confession, creed, repentance, and liturgy.

We believe that all people have a natural knowledge of God and the law and all people seek God.  We believe that God can only be known personally through divine revelation in history as known and seen in the Old Testament and ultimately through Jesus the Christ.  Jesus reveals a loving God and Father.  We also believe that "all people sin and fall short of the glory of God."  We all need a Savior, and God, in His abundant goodness, sends Christ to pay the price of our sins and be our righteousness.

We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God.  The creeds and confessions give proper and reliable interpretations which keep the church on course with historical and universal understandings of the Apostolic faith, avoiding fad and sectarianism.  We do not believe that decisions by church conventions or councils are always right, and rejoice in our freedom to speak our conscience.  We believe that people can reject God, even though God continues to reach out with His love and mercy.  We believe that God, in His love and mercy, desires that all people be part of the family and God universal.  We believe that God is our Father who gives us all that we need in body and soul, that Jesus is our Lord and Savior, and that the Holy Spirit empowers our lives and gives us faith and love.

Our primary beliefs about Scripture are stated in the Book of Concord in such creeds as the Apostles and Nicene, and confessions as the Augsburg Confession, the Apology of the Augsburg Confession, the Formula of Concord, and the Small and Large Catechisms.
